Taking the House out of HMO

by Tertia

The Government is to introduce changes to the Use Class Order. The new Order will include a specific category for HMOs (Houses of Multiple Occupation).  A HMO is to be classified as a house occupied by 3 or more people, who are unrelated and share amenities.  From April (the proposed date for the new legislation to come into force) landlords will be required to secure planning consent to convert a house to a HMO.  For more information check out the page on this blog or contact our planningexpert@landlordsblog.co.uk.
